Formwork Preparation
New Formwork
New formwork normally requires no special preparation. If metal forms show signs of rust, remove the rust using a wire brush or emery cloth and clean the surface thoroughly before application.
Used Formwork
Used formwork must be thoroughly cleaned and free from old concrete, dirt, cement laitance, old mold oil and other contaminants.
Mechanical cleaning using a wire brush or media blasting may be used when required. Follow mechanical cleaning with a suitable general-purpose solvent or high-pH cleaning solution.
Forms coated with accumulated wax, oil or other coatings should be cleaned using a suitable heavy-duty cleaning solvent. Remove rust and oil from steel molds before application.
Application
WHITE SAND MOLD RWB is supplied ready to use.
Apply using a brush, roller or suitable spraying equipment.
When spraying, use a fine nozzle to produce a light and continuous film.
Avoid excessive application.
If excess material is applied, allow it to drain and remove it from the bottom of the mold using a sponge or cloth.
Do not allow pools of the release agent to dry on the formwork, as this may cause surface retardation of the concrete.
Yield and Coverage
WHITE SAND MOLD RWB covers approximately 35 m² per litre.
Coverage depends on the texture, condition and absorbency of the formwork surface. Consumption may be higher on rough or porous surfaces.
