Ultra Seal PU 500 adheres to a wide variety of building materials, including:

  • Concrete
  • Wood
  • Marble
  • Natural stone
  • Aluminum
  • Steel
  • Ceramic
  • Gypsum boards
  • Other common construction substrates
4. What are the main advantages of Ultra Seal PU 500?

Key benefits include:

  • One-component formulation
  • Excellent adhesion without primer on many substrates
  • High elasticity
  • Excellent water resistance
  • Wide service temperature range
  • Paintable after curing
  • Excellent aging resistance
  • High tear and wear resistance
  • Good resistance to microorganisms
  • Resistant to various chemicals

5. Is Ultra Seal PU 500 waterproof?

Yes. Ultra Seal PU 500 provides excellent water  resistance, making it suitable for sealing joints exposed to moisture and outdoor weather conditions.

6. Can Ultra Seal PU 500 be used on vertical joints?

Yes. Its non-sag consistency makes it ideal for both vertical  and horizontal joint sealing applications.

7. Does Ultra Seal PU 500 require a primer?

In most cases, no. It offers excellent adhesion to clean,  dry, and sound substrates without a primer. However, primers are recommended for porous surfaces, non-porous surfaces requiring maximum adhesion, and joints that will remain continuously submerged in water.

8. How should the surface be prepared before application?

The substrate should be:

  • Clean
  • Dry
  • Free from dust
  • Free from oil
  • Free from grease
  • Free from contaminants

If necessary, clean surfaces with methyl ethyl ketone (MEK), acetone, or a suitable grease remover before application.

9. Can Ultra Seal PU 500 be painted?

Yes. Ultra Seal PU 500 is  paintable using most standard construction paints. However, a compatibility test is recommended before full application.

10. What standards does Ultra Seal PU 500 comply with?

Ultra Seal PU 500 complies with:

  • ISO 11600 Type F  Class 25 LM
  • ASTM C920 Type S Grade NS Class 25 Use NT, T1, A, M and I
11. What is the movement accommodation capability?

Ultra Seal PU 500  accommodates joint movement of ±25%, making it suitable for expansion and movement joints.

12. What is the elongation at break?

Ultra Seal PU 500 provides an elongation at break of 800%  or greater, delivering exceptional flexibility and crack resistance.

13. What is the tensile strength of Ultra Seal PU 500?

The sealant achieves a tensile strength of 1.8 MPa or  higher after 7 days, providing durable and reliable performance.

14. What is the tack-free time?

Ultra Seal PU 500 becomes  tack-free in approximately 1 to 3.5 hours at 23°C and 50% relative humidity.

15. What is the curing rate?

The sealant cures at approximately 2.5–3.5 mm  per day, depending on temperature and humidity.

16. What temperatures can Ultra Seal PU 500 withstand?
  • Application temperature: 5°C to 50°C
  • Service temperature: -30°C to 90°C

It remains flexible even at temperatures as low as -30°C.

17. Is Ultra Seal PU 500 resistant to UV exposure?

Yes. Long-term UV exposure  may slightly reduce surface gloss, but it does not affect the sealant's performance or durability.

18. How should Ultra Seal PU 500 be applied?

Install a polyethylene backing  rod to control joint depth, apply the sealant using a suitable applicator, and tool the sealant immediately after application for a smooth finish. The recommended width-to-depth ratio is 2:1, with a minimum sealant depth of 5 mm.

19. How do you clean tools after application?

Clean tools immediately using paper towels followed by  acetone, xylene, or another suitable solvent before the sealant cures.

20. What packaging is Ultra Seal PU 500 available in?

Ultra Seal PU 500 is supplied  in convenient 600 ml sausage packs.

21. What is the shelf life of Ultra Seal PU 500?

The product has a shelf life of  8 months when stored in unopened original packaging at temperatures between 5°C and 25°C. Higher storage temperatures may reduce shelf life.

22. Is Ultra Seal PU 500 safe to use?

Yes. Once cured, Ultra Seal PU 500 is non-hazardous.  During application, avoid eye contact and flush immediately with clean water if accidental contact occurs. Seek medical attention if irritation persists.

23. Can Ultra Seal PU 500 be used outdoors?

Yes. Ultra Seal PU 500 is  designed for both interior and exterior applications, offering excellent weather resistance, water resistance, elasticity, and long-term durability.

24. Why choose Ultra Seal PU 500 over conventional joint sealants?

Ultra Seal PU 500 provides superior flexibility, excellent adhesion without  primer on most substrates, waterproof performance, chemical resistance, UV durability, paintability, high movement accommodation, and compliance with international standards, making it an ideal sealant for demanding construction and expansion joint applications.
