Polymer-Modified Adhesive Mortar for Lightweight Blocks
FIX LB is a high-quality polymer-modified cementitious adhesive mortar developed for laying and fixing aerated concrete blocks and similar lightweight masonry units.
The product consists of Portland cement, specialized polymeric materials, graded silica sand, selected fillers and special chemical additives. It is mixed with clean water to produce a smooth, workable and slump-free thin-bed mortar.
FIX LB provides high bond strength and shrinkage resistance while helping maintain the thermal-insulation performance of lightweight-block walls. It is available in white and grey and complies with EN 12004, class C2.
Helps maintain the thermal-insulation performance of lightweight-block walls.
Requires only the addition of clean water.
Available in white and grey.
Complies with EN 12004, class C2.
Standards Compliance
Complies with EN 12004, class C2.
Tensile adhesion strength tested according to EN 1348.
Substrate Preparation
Clean lightweight blocks using a suitable brush to remove dust, loose particles and surface contamination.
Neutralize excessive block suction by applying clean potable water. Allow standing or excess water to disperse before applying FIX LB. The block surface should be damp without pooled water.
Mixing
Place approximately 5 litres of clean water in a suitable mixing container for each 20 kg bag.
Slowly add FIX LB powder to the water while mixing continuously.
Use a slow-speed electric drill fitted with a suitable mixing paddle.
Mix for at least two minutes until a smooth, homogeneous and slump-free consistency is obtained.
Allow the mixture to stand for 5–10 minutes.
Remix briefly before application.
Do not add water after the adhesive mortar begins to harden.
Application
Apply the mixed adhesive mortar to the prepared block surface using a suitable trowel.
Comb the mortar in straight ribs using a suitably sized notched trowel.
Position the block within the adhesive’s open time.
Press the block firmly into the mortar.
Form uniform horizontal and vertical joints with the minimum practical gap.
Check the block alignment and level before proceeding.
Remove excess mortar before it hardens.
Curing
Under normal ambient conditions, special curing is generally not required.
During rapid-drying conditions, such as direct sun, high temperatures or strong dry winds, apply a light mist of clean water three to four times daily for at least three days.
Yield and Coverage
One 20 kg bag mixed with approximately 5 litres of clean water produces approximately 14 litres of adhesive mortar.
The stated yield is approximate. Actual consumption depends on block dimensions, surface level, joint thickness, application method and material wastage.
Cleaning
Clean tools immediately after completing the application using clean water. Hardened material must be removed mechanically.
Storage and Shelf Life
FIX LB has a minimum shelf life of 12 months when stored in its unopened and undamaged original packaging in a dry, shaded place, away from direct sunlight, at an ambient temperature below 35°C.
Packaging
20 kg paper bags.
Health and Safety
Wear suitable protective gloves and safety goggles during mixing and application.
Avoid unnecessary contact with the skin and eyes.
In case of skin contact, wash immediately with soap and clean water.
In case of eye contact, rinse immediately with plenty of clean, cold water.
Seek medical advice if irritation continues.
The product is non-flammable and is not classified as hazardous under current legislation.
Do not dispose of the material in water or soil. Follow applicable local disposal regulations.
