EFS 50 is a high-quality, polymer-modified cementitious adhesive developed for bonding polystyrene insulation boards within external insulation finishing systems.
The product contains polymer- and silicate-modified Portland cement with specially selected additives. When mixed with clean water, it produces a smooth, workable and slump-resistant thin-bed adhesive.
EFS 50 provides durable adhesion between foam insulation and prepared masonry walls. Its adhesion to the foam exceeds the cohesive strength of the foam itself, helping the complete system withstand minor building movement, moisture effects, efflorescence and rising damp.

Substrate Preparation
The foam surface and masonry substrate must be clean, completely dry and free from dirt, foam dust, grease, oil and other surface contaminants.
The masonry surface must be sound and non-friable. Painted surfaces must be firmly bonded to the substrate and compatible with EFS 50.
Remove weak coatings, loose material and contaminants that may reduce adhesion before application.
Mixing
Place approximately 5 litres of clean water in a suitable mixing container for each 20 kg bag.
Slowly add EFS 50 powder to the water while mixing.
Use a slow-speed electric drill fitted with a suitable mixing paddle.
Mix for at least two minutes until a smooth, homogeneous and slump-free consistency is obtained.
Allow the mixture to stand for 5–10 minutes.
Remix briefly before application.
Do not add water after the adhesive begins to harden.
Do not add supplementary polymer additives.
Application
Apply the mixed adhesive to the insulation board using a suitably sized notched trowel.
Hold the notched trowel at a consistent angle to produce correctly sized adhesive ribbons.
Press the trowel firmly while forming the ribbons.
Avoid allowing excess adhesive to accumulate between the adhesive ribs.
Keep the trowel notches clean throughout application.
Position and press the insulation board against the prepared substrate within the adhesive’s open time.
Ensure adequate and uniform contact between the board and substrate.
Yield and Coverage
One 20 kg bag mixed with approximately 5 litres of clean water produces approximately 15 litres of adhesive mortar.
The stated yield is approximate. Actual consumption depends on substrate condition, surface level, trowel size, application method and material wastage.
Cleaning
Clean tools immediately after completing the application using clean water. Hardened material must be removed mechanically.
Storage and Shelf Life
EFS 50 has a minimum shelf life of 12 months when stored in its unopened and undamaged original packaging in a dry, shaded place, away from direct sunlight, at an ambient temperature below 35°C.

Wear suitable protective gloves and safety goggles during mixing and application.
Avoid unnecessary contact with the skin and eyes.
In case of skin contact, wash immediately with soap and clean water.
In case of eye contact, rinse immediately with plenty of clean, cold water.
Seek medical advice if irritation continues.
The product is non-flammable and is not classified as hazardous under current legislation.
Do not dispose of the material in water or soil. Follow applicable local disposal regulations.
