Multi-Purpose Non-Shrink Cementitious Grout

FLOW GR 400 is a multi-purpose, non-shrink and non-metallic cementitious grout consisting of Portland cement, graded aggregates and special chemical additives.

When mixed with a controlled quantity of clean water, the product forms a free-flowing grout capable of filling gaps approximately 10-75 mm thick. Positive volumetric expansion during the plastic stage helps compensate for shrinkage.

FLOW GR 400 is suitable for machine bases, crane rails, precast concrete columns, steel base plates, gaps between precast elements and the anchoring of bolts and masts. It complies with ASTM C1107, Grade A.

Substrate Preparation

The substrate must be sound, clean and free from dust, oil, grease, laitance, loose particles and contaminants that may reduce adhesion.

Thoroughly saturate absorbent concrete surfaces using clean water. Remove all standing and excess water before placing the grout.

Steel surfaces must be free from rust, mill scale, oil and grease.

Formwork must be watertight, rigid and sufficiently strong to resist grout pressure without leaking or deforming. Provide suitable openings to allow displaced air to escape.

Mixing

Place the measured quantity of clean water in a suitable mixing container.
Slowly add FLOW GR 400 powder while mixing continuously.
Use a grout mixer or slow-speed electric drill fitted with a high-shear mixing paddle.
Mix for at least three minutes until homogeneous and uniform.
Do not divide the packs or attempt partial mixing.
During cold conditions below 8°C, use warm mixing water to assist early-strength development.
At temperatures of 35°C or higher, use cold water below 20°C.
Keep the mixed-grout temperature below 30°C during hot-weather application.

Placement

Place the mixed grout immediately after mixing.
Pour from one side only to minimize air entrapment.
Arrange the pour so that the grout travels the shortest practical distance.
Allow displaced air to escape freely.
For base-plate grouting, maintain a continuous hydrostatic head to keep the grout flowing.
Do not interrupt the pour until the grouting operation is complete.
Keep exposed grout surfaces to the minimum practical area.
During hot weather, shade base plates and foundations from direct sunlight.

Application Thickness

Recommended single-layer thickness: 10-75 mm.
For thicker sections, add 14-15 kg of clean, washed 8-12 mm aggregate to each 25 kg of FLOW GR 400.

Yield

One 25 kg bag produces approximately 12-13 litres of mixed grout.

The stated yield is approximate. Actual consumption depends on water addition, void dimensions, aggregate addition and material wastage.

Curing

Protect exposed grout surfaces against rapid water loss. Cure using continuous clean water, wet hessian or a suitable WHITE SAND-CURE curing compound.

Cleaning

Clean tools and equipment immediately after use and before the initial cure using clean water. Hardened material must be removed mechanically.

Storage and Shelf Life

FLOW GR 400 has a shelf life of 12 months when stored in its original sealed packaging in a dry, shaded place under suitable warehouse conditions at a temperature below 35°C.

Health and Safety

Wear suitable protective gloves and safety goggles during mixing and application.
Avoid unnecessary contact with the skin and eyes.
In case of skin contact, wash immediately with soap and clean water.
In case of eye contact, rinse immediately with plenty of clean, cold water.
Seek medical advice if irritation continues.
The product is non-flammable and is not classified as hazardous under current legislation.
Do not dispose of the material in water or soil. Follow applicable local regulations.
