FLEXOPROOF is a single-component, polymer-modified cementitious waterproofing coating formulated to be mixed with clean water and applied to concrete, mortar and masonry substrates.
The product provides a flexible and durable barrier against water, moisture, carbon dioxide, chloride ions and sulphates while allowing water vapor to escape from the structure.
FLEXOPROOF is suitable for water tanks, swimming pools, bathrooms, roofs, foundations, canals and waterproofing beneath tiles. Its non-toxic, solvent-free formulation makes it suitable for potable-water retaining structures.
Excellent bond strength after prolonged contact with water.
Flexible and able to accommodate limited substrate cracking.
Non-toxic and solvent-free.
Suitable for potable-water tanks.
Effective barrier against carbon dioxide, chloride ions, sulphates and water.
Allows water vapor to escape from the substrate.
Durable under different climatic conditions.
Good resistance to weathering and ultraviolet exposure.
Covers honeycombed and pitted concrete surfaces.
Good abrasion resistance.
Can be applied by brush, roller, trowel or suitable spray equipment.
Cost-effective waterproofing system.
Substrate Preparation
All surfaces must be sound, clean and free from dust, cement laitance, oil, grease, loose particles and contaminants that may reduce adhesion.
Wire brushing, sandblasting, water blasting or grinding may be used to prepare the substrate.
Where moss, algae or similar biological growth is present, apply a suitable proprietary biocide after grit blasting.
New concrete substrates must be at least three to four weeks old, depending on the concrete condition and ambient climate.
Pre-wet the substrate thoroughly using clean water and allow all standing or excess water to dissipate before application. The substrate should be saturated surface-dry.
Mixing
Place approximately 7 kg of clean water in a suitable mixing container for each 20 kg bag.
Slowly add FLEXOPROOF powder to the water while mixing continuously.
Use a slow-speed electric drill fitted with a suitable mixing paddle.
Mix for at least two minutes until smooth, homogeneous and slump-free.
When required by the application method, add only an additional 0.20-0.30 kg of water to adjust the consistency.
Allow the mixture to stand for approximately five minutes.
Remix briefly before application.
Use the material within its 60-minute pot life.
Application
Apply the mixed FLEXOPROOF to the prepared substrate using a high-quality brush, roller, trowel or suitable spray equipment.
Work the first coat firmly into the substrate to ensure full contact.
Apply each coat at a recommended thickness of approximately 1 mm.
Apply the second coat after the first coat has set sufficiently.
Apply the second coat in a direction perpendicular to the first where practical.
Ensure continuous and uniform coverage without pinholes or missed areas.
Protect the coating from rapid drying, strong winds, direct sun, rain and mechanical damage.
For applications subjected to water immersion, allow the coating to cure for at least seven days.
Yield and Coverage
Approximate coverage from one 20 kg bag when applied in two coats at approximately 1 mm per coat:
Application Method
Approximate Coverage
Spray application
17 m²
Brush application
15 m²
Trowel application
12 m²
The stated coverage values are approximate. Actual consumption depends on substrate porosity, profile, application method, total thickness and material wastage.
Cleaning
Clean tools and equipment immediately after use and before the initial cure using clean water. Hardened material must be removed mechanically.
Storage and Shelf Life
FLEXOPROOF has a shelf life of 12 months when stored in its original unopened packaging in a dry, shaded place under suitable warehouse conditions at a temperature below 35°C.
Packaging
20 kg paper bags.
Health and Safety
Wear suitable protective gloves and safety goggles during mixing and application.
Avoid unnecessary contact with the skin and eyes.
In case of skin contact, wash immediately with soap and clean water.
In case of eye contact, rinse immediately with plenty of clean, cold water.
Seek medical advice if irritation continues.
The product is non-flammable and is not classified as hazardous under current legislation.
Do not dispose of the material in water or soil. Follow applicable local regulations.
