WHITE SAND PRIME EP20 is a two-component, solvent-containing, low-viscosity epoxy resin primer developed for normal to highly absorbent concrete substrates. It provides good surface penetration, excellent bond strength and effective sealing before the application of compatible epoxy flooring, coating and concrete repair systems.
WHITE SAND PRIME EP20 is supplied in factory-proportioned packs and is commonly used as part of complete WHITE SAND industrial flooring, protective coating and repair systems.
Priming normal to highly absorbent concrete substrates.
Suitable for use under epoxy flooring and coating systems.
Suitable for use under compatible concrete repair systems.
Seals porous concrete surfaces before applying subsequent coatings.
Improves adhesion between concrete substrates and epoxy-based systems.
Suitable for use as part of complete WHITE SAND flooring, coating and repair systems.
Advantages
Excellent bond strength.
Good penetration into absorbent concrete substrates.
Low-viscosity formulation.
Multipurpose application.
Easy to mix and apply.
Factory-proportioned two-component system.
Provides uniform sealing of porous surfaces.
Promotes adhesion of subsequent epoxy systems.
Can be applied by brush, lambswool roller or squeegee.
Suitable for normal and highly absorbent concrete surfaces.
Substrate Preparation
All surfaces receiving WHITE SAND PRIME EP20 must be structurally sound, dry, clean and free from dust, oil, grease, cement laitance, loose particles, old coatings and other surface contaminants.
Correct surface preparation is essential for the immediate and long-term performance of the applied epoxy system.
New concrete substrates must be at least four weeks old and have a moisture content not exceeding 5%.
Mixing
Pour the entire contents of the hardener container into the base container.
Use the supplied complete packs only and do not divide or mix partial packs.
Mix using a slow-speed electric drill fitted with a suitable mixing paddle.
Mix thoroughly for approximately three minutes.
Continue mixing until a uniform material with an even consistency is obtained.
Do not add solvents or other materials at any stage.
Apply the mixed material immediately, as material left inside the container may generate heat and have a reduced pot life.
Application
Apply the mixed WHITE SAND PRIME EP20 uniformly over the prepared substrate.
Use a suitable brush, lambswool roller or squeegee.
Apply at an approximate rate of 15 m² per litre.
Ensure that the primer is distributed evenly across the entire surface.
Avoid excessive application and do not allow the material to form puddles.
When the primer becomes tacky to the touch, proceed with the installation of the compatible epoxy flooring, coating or repair system.
Apply the subsequent system within the primer’s specified open time.
Yield and Coverage
One 4 litre pack of WHITE SAND PRIME EP20 covers approximately 60 m² in a single coat, equivalent to approximately 15 m² per litre.
The stated coverage is approximate. Actual consumption may vary depending on substrate condition, porosity, surface profile, application method and material wastage.
Cleaning
Clean tools and equipment immediately after application using a suitable cleaning solvent recommended for epoxy materials.
Hardened material can only be removed mechanically.
Storage and Shelf Life
WHITE SAND PRIME EP20 has a minimum shelf life of 12 months when stored in its unopened and undamaged original packaging under dry warehouse conditions.
Storage under high-temperature or high-humidity conditions may reduce the product’s shelf life. Keep the containers tightly closed and away from heat, sparks, naked flames and other sources of ignition.
Packaging
4 litre two-component packs.
Health and Safety
Both components are flammable and must be kept away from naked flames and ignition sources.
Ensure adequate ventilation during mixing and application.
Use suitable respiratory protection when applying the product in enclosed areas.
Wear protective gloves, safety goggles and suitable protective clothing.
Avoid contact with the skin and eyes and avoid prolonged inhalation of vapours.
Remove material from the skin before it hardens using resin-removing cream or soap and water.
Do not use solvents to clean the skin.
In case of eye contact, rinse immediately with plenty of clean water and seek medical advice.
If swallowed, seek medical attention immediately and do not induce vomiting.
In case of fire, use carbon dioxide or foam extinguishing equipment.
Do not dispose of the material in water or soil. Follow applicable local disposal regulations.
