FIX B2 is a ready-mixed cementitious masonry mortar formulated for laying regular and hollow concrete blocks, bricks and suitable masonry stones.
The product consists of Portland cement, specialized polymeric materials, graded silica sand, selected fillers and chemical additives. These materials provide a cohesive, workable and slump-free mortar after mixing with clean water.
FIX B2 can also be used to fill gaps between concrete and brickwork. It is applied in mortar-bed thicknesses of approximately 10–20 mm and requires suitable water curing after application.
General masonry construction and block-wall connections.
Suitable for mortar-bed thicknesses of approximately 10–20 mm.
Advantages
Ready-mixed cementitious masonry mortar.
Requires only the addition of clean water.
Formulated specifically for blocks, bricks and masonry stones.
Good adhesion between concrete and brickwork.
Easy to mix and apply.
Smooth, cohesive and slump-free consistency.
Consistent factory-controlled formulation.
Suitable for hot-climate conditions when correctly applied and cured.
Substrate Preparation
All surfaces must be clean, sound and free from dust, grease, oil, loose particles and any contaminants that may reduce adhesion.
The surface must not be overheated or frozen. During hot weather, lightly dampen the surface with clean water immediately before application. Remove any standing or excess water.
Mixing
Place approximately 6–7 litres of clean water in a suitable mixing container for each 50 kg bag.
Slowly add FIX B2 powder to the water while mixing continuously.
Use a slow-speed electric drill fitted with a suitable mixing paddle.
Mix for at least two minutes.
Continue mixing until a smooth, homogeneous and slump-free mortar is obtained.
Do not add excessive water or other materials to the mixture.
Application
Apply the mixed FIX B2 mortar to the prepared block surface using a suitable trowel.
Place the block onto the fresh mortar while it remains workable.
Press the block firmly to achieve complete contact with the mortar.
Check the alignment and level before installing the next block.
Fill gaps and joints completely without leaving voids.
Remove excess material using a damp sponge before it sets.
Apply the product at a temperature between approximately 5°C and 35°C.
Curing
Protect newly applied FIX B2 from direct sunlight, strong wind and rapid drying.
Cure the applied material with clean water for at least three days by spraying approximately three to four times per day, depending on climatic conditions.
Yield and Coverage
One 50 kg bag produces approximately 33 litres of fresh mortar.
The stated yield is approximate. Actual consumption depends on block dimensions, joint thickness, substrate condition, application method and material wastage.
Cleaning
Clean tools immediately after completing the application using clean water. Hardened material must be removed mechanically.
Storage and Shelf Life
FIX B2 has a minimum shelf life of 12 months when stored in its unopened and undamaged original packaging in a dry, shaded place, away from direct sunlight, at an ambient temperature below 35°C.
Packaging
50 kg paper bags.
Health and Safety
Wear suitable protective gloves and safety goggles during mixing and application.
Avoid unnecessary contact with the skin and eyes.
In case of skin contact, wash immediately with soap and clean water.
In case of eye contact, rinse immediately with plenty of clean, cold water.
Seek medical advice if irritation continues.
The product is non-flammable and is not classified as hazardous under current legislation.
Do not dispose of the material in water or soil. Follow applicable local disposal regulations.
